This project, initially funded by the Department of Health, aims to help ease the questions and worries those affected by life-limiting illnesses may have. The Hospice Outreach Project is a mobile vehicle unit which provides a flexible and accessible range of services right into the heart of the community. It is staffed by a senior nurse, who will be able to provide information and advice on all aspects of hospice care available at St Barnabas House and out in the local community. The Hospice Outreach Project also acts as an education resource for healthcare professionals and the wider community. The specialist staff work closely with community teams and local support networks to offer advice in areas of symptom management, emotional, spiritual, psychological and bereavement support for patients, their families and significant others. The aim of this project is to improve the way people access information and support related to ill health, end of life issues, life limiting illnesses and wellbeing.  All visits are subject to weather conditions.

Christmas Late Night Opening @ High Street
Dec 6 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The Theme is A Christmas Carol, Dickens’ tale about Scrooge and the moral that Christmas is a time for helping others. The story also features ghosts from Christmas past, present and future, so plenty of scope for kids and parents to dress up here then!
We are hoping that all the pubs, restaurants and cafes in the village will be open and additionally the BP Guild will be running their burger bar. We will also be hoping to have stands with toffee apples, popcorn and candy floss operated by local organisations such as Scouts, Guides, Churches and other community organisations.
Santa’s Sleigh will be out and Santa will be with us too. Reindeer will be in the garden at Stokes, plus owls and some other attractions. As with last year, we expect that many of the village’s shops will be able to put on their own attractions in support of the Christmas Carol theme.
