Walk for Louise @ Start from one of three Parish churches
Aug 22 @ 1:00 pm

Louise Clark, who passed away very suddenly earlier this year, was well known in our community as the former Administrator to our three local parish churches and as a Governor at St Peter’s School. But Louise was so much more than these titles, she was a bright energetic spark who loved nature, walking, and children. Louise was passionate about Children’s Church and was deeply involved with St Peter’s Little Fishes. We wanted to find a way of meeting to celebrate Louise’s life and so a group of us came together and the Walk for Louise was born.

About the Walk

  • The Date: Sunday 22nd August 2021
  • The time: we ask you to start walking between 1pm and 2pm
  • The start points: will be at our three churches, St Peter’s Henfield, St Giles’ Shermanbury and St Peter’s Woodmancote with registration desks to collect your wrist bands
  • The destination: Sussex Prairie Gardens
  • The routes: Regardless of start point he walk will take between 1 and 1.5 hours. Please be aware that there are stiles to climb along the route
  • What to bring: water, a picnic if you wish. Children welcome. Dogs welcome but must remain on a lead and please “pick up the poo” and respect any livestock en route
  • What if you can’t manage the walk? A minibus will run between the three churches and the Sussex Prairie Gardens between 1.30pm and 5.00pm. We ask for a minimum donation of £5 to cover the costs (children go free)

About Sussex Prairie Gardens

  • Entry to Sussex Prairie Gardens: Paul & Pauline McBride have kindly agreed free entrance to their beautiful Gardens for this event, please show your wrist band
  • The Walk for Louise event will take place between 2pm and 4.30pm
  • The gardens are spectacular and if you haven’t been before you will be in for a treat so please keep enough energy to walk around
  • There will be a picnic area for us to use or you can buy cake and drink at the Prairie Gardens cafe (please do – they have given us free entry !)
  • Entertainment: thanks to Henfield Parish Council and Henfield Community Partnership the Soho Village JazzBand will entertain us between 2.30 & 4.30pm
  • There will be an Indian Bazaar where you can browse and buy
  • There will be something to entertain your children

About Protecting our Countryside

  • We are so lucky to live surrounded by such beautiful countryside, lets enjoy it, as far as possible the route avoids main roads and follows rural footpaths
  • Lets also be aware that a developer wants to cover this area with houses and we want the walk for Louise to reflect her love of our countryside and our passion for protecting it
  • The day will also celebrate the launch of a new “3 Parishes Walking Trail” and we will be walking a part of that route – see website co.uk

About Donating

  • This is a free event but if you would like to donate all money collected will be donated for the Children’s Church projects and Little Fishes group which Louise loved
  • There will be collecting buckets at the churches and Sussex Prairie gardens so please bring some cash or you can donate https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/12987

About our Community  Joining Together

Most importantly this is a great opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the life of Louise Clark by doing some of the things that she loved. We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us and we look forward to seeing you.

Thank you for your support, The Rev’d Paul Doick, Rector of the Parish of Henfield with Shermanbury and Woodmancote & Malcolm Eastwoood, Chairman, Henfield Parish Council
