Over the spring weekend of Friday 24th – Monday 27th May Henfield Birdwatch is running its ‘Henfield Big Bird Bash!’ We don’t go around bashing birds but it’s a way of engaging with people to get out over that weekend and record what and how many species of birds via a series of guided walks and reporting what they see in their gardens and around the Parish.
Monday 27th May with Val Bentley – Downslink to Streatham Bridge, riverside to New Inn and back via Frogshole & Rye Farm. Leave Hollands Lane end of Downslink near the Old Steam Mill 8.30am. Approx 4 hours.
We have been running the Big Bird Bash since 2020 and we raise money for The Haven and over the four years £1860.00 has been raised through sponsorship for one of the teams, the number of species recorded or general donations. We will be doing this again over the weekend so if you wish to sponsor through any of the above methods, please donate to Henfield Birdwatch at Barclays Bank 20-98-74, Account 53401154 reference BBB or by cheque (payable to Henfield Birdwatch) sent to Val Bentley, Lanacre, Blackgate Lane, Henfield, BN5 9HA.
You can take part in a number of ways, simply report the number of species you see in your garden over the weekend, random sightings as you walk around the parish or even take your own walk. You can report your sightings at sightings@henfieldbirdwatch.co.uk
