Art at Ash House

Saturday 8th June 2024 to Sunday 9th June 2024

A group of local artists and makers will be exhibiting together during the Gardens and Arts Festival weekend in June. Ash House is set in a stunning location at the southern end of the village with views over the South Downs. The garden was designed and landscaped in 2021 to make the most of the wonderful views and includes a wildlife pond, borders of Perennials and a raised vegetable garden. Pause a while to admire the view from the wide balcony.

Textile and leather designer Lyn Fryer, who lives at Ash House, will be showing her collection of handmade leather bags and quilts. Working with both new and upcycled leather, Lyn creates colourful items which are unique and purposeful.

Alison Crowe is a precious metal jeweller. She will show her large range of ethically produced contemporary silver and gemstone pieces inspired by natural forms and early 20th century art. Every piece is individually designed and handmade in Henfield.

Melissa Birch creates beautiful, limited-edition prints at her Steyning studio. Living in the South Downs fuels her interest in nature, and in particular, floral structures which she aims to capture in her work.

Jenny Wightwick is an Ashurst ceramicist who captures the simplicity of line and a sense of balance in her drawings of natural forms which she then transforms into stoneware clay.

Refreshments will be available on both days. Free entry with contributions to charity.
