Following the Government’s advice, The Self Help Group will not be meeting till further notice.

The objective of the Group is to provide the opportunity for elderly or disabled people, who often live alone, to meet and socialise in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We meet weekly to chat, participate in board games or a specially designed exercise schedule, enjoy a varied entertainment programme and have lunch. There is no membership fee but a charge of £5 per session which includes a 2-course lunch.

The Group, which is a self-funding charity, started in 1980 with 3 members and 3 volunteers. We now have 36 members and can accommodate up to 40 and teams of volunteers who assist with activities, prepare meals and transport members on our minibus. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers, the group has gone from strength to strength.

We run a few fundraising events though the year which pays for our annual outing and entertainment. Look out for our events which are published in BN5. We are also fortunate to have the generous support of the Henfield people.

Transport can be arranged and we would also be pleased to hear from anyone interested in becoming part of our transport team, either as a driver or “shotgun”.
