A thriving garden club since 1958, Cowfold Horticultural Society (CHS) makes sure that Cowfold celebrates all that is beautiful about plants and gardens, organising key horticultural events in the village and keeping its main street fresh and colourful in summer.
The CHS was born of necessity arising from the original ‘Village Produce Society’, set up during the war to encourage people to grow food. Steeped in the agricultural economies over the decades, Cowfold and surrounding areas have produced a wealth of gardening knowledge and enthusiasm. Local gardeners now showcase their fruit, vegetables and flowers at village events and in some cases, winning recognition further afield at Royal Horticultural shows such as Chelsea.
We have a wealth of knowledge amongst our members to answer queries on horticulture, and we endeavour to increase our expertise with our monthly programme of speakers and visits. But our programme is varied – its not all about gardening!
