The Arts Society Henfield presents: "A Portrait of Jewels: Following missing treasures through canvas" presented by Andrew Prince.
Many art works have gone missing, been stolen or looted over the years, particularly with a regime change. A trip to the National Portrait Gallery in London to see the Tudor and Stuart monarchs dressed in their finery left Andrew Prince wondering what had become of the jewellery he saw in the paintings.
Andrew will link his long held passion with jewellery, its design, and the stones to their history, travel and whereabouts which will be examined to reveal some fascinating detective stories. He is also known for the many pieces of beautiful jewellery he has designed for commission, celebrities and films, including an exhibition at the V&A.
Refreshments at 2pm, Lecture at 2.30pm. Guests welcome, £10 on the door. New members always welcome.
